Haley and Derrick’s wedding at the Bedford private estate in Livermore, California will always have a special place in our hearts, as Derrick’s family has been friends of ours for a long time. It was extremely important for Fran and I to do justice to Haley and Derrick’s love story, which is one reason that we decided to incorporate interviews into their wedding film.
It was apparent in their interviews that Derrick and Haley are perfect for each other, largely because they seemed to know how to support each other no matter what life brought their way. Haley lit up when talking to us about getting lost in Derrick’s green eyes, and Derrick shed a few tears himself in front of our cameras, as if looking directly into his future with his new wife.
Haley and Derrick’s ceremony was the most emotional ceremony that Fran and I have witnessed. There were nary a dry eye in the audience as Etta James’“At Last” reverberated through the huge tree branches overhead.
If it had been a long journey before they decided to tie the knot, watching Derrick watch Haley come down the long grass pathway toward him gave all witnesses the sense that the long wait had made that particular moment that much sweeter.
